Why does Vista keeps blocking sQusi when I restart the computer?
A: sQusi is free. Microsoft requires all applications to have (an expensive) digital signature. We thought we'd save our money to evolve the product. To unblock, look for the Vista at the bottom right of your screen which says Blocked programs.' Just mouse over and click 'Allow'

How do I configure Vista to allow the firewall to allow automatic updates?
A: For Windows Firewall, select Control Panel from the Start Bar, next select the 'Allow a program through Windows Firewall'. You find this option under the 'Security' from the CP menu. This will display the 'Windows Firewall Settings' dialog. Next, select 'Browse' which will display Windows Explorer. Then select 'Computer' in the left panel and click it to display the 'C' drive. Next, click 'C Drive' then click 'Program Files' and locate the 'sQusi' folder and then and locate and select and doubleclick sQusiBasicUpdater.exe if you are using sQusi Tracking Blocker. This will add it to the Allowed Programs list. If you are running sQusi Tracking Plus, do the same except select 'sQusi20Updater.exe' and doubleclick that.

This may sound tedious (and it is), it is not sQusi specific. Any new program on Vista that does not have an expensive digital signature, will face this.

Running sQusi in Administrator mode on Vista
Even if you are logged in as an Administrator, by default Vista security considers you to be a user when you run an individual application. This means that in many instances, you will not be able to update or upgrade a version without uninstalling. We strongly recommend that you explicitly set sQusi to run as an Administrator by doing the following:

Locate the sQusi icon on your desktop and right click it. This will display a menu:
  • Select the 'Properties' item on the menu. This will display a tabbed dialog.
  • Select the 'Compatibility' tab and then select 'Run this program as an administrator'. This will ensure you can get autoupdates and that you can upgrade.

Blocked Domains still show up. Should I restart the browser?
No. You do not need to restart the browser, but you may need to clean the browser cache using the Tools/Options menu (NOT the sQusi cleanup feature). If a blocked domain still displays, it may be because it is cached on your computer

I still keep getting Flash ads and content
The Flash Blocker defaults to OFF when you start sQusi. You must turn it ON.  Some Flash ads or content may still get through because they are not using conventional .SWF files. Make sure you clear your browser cache.

How Do I Block Site-based Ads & Scripts?
Make sure you have Version 2.01 installed. To do this, click the sQusi system tray icon and select 'Block/Allow' from the menu and then 'Block' from the sub-menu.

Once the dialog is displayed, click the 'Add' button and enter the full URL path (without the 'http://'). For example, if you want to block certain annoying ads from www.nytimes.com, you enter 'graphics8.nytimes.com/ads/'(minus the quotes of course.

'Please Enter A Valid Email Address' Error
This bug occurs because it wrongly recognizes a period (dot) in front of the '@' sign as an invalid character. We have released a bug fix via an auto update. In the meantime, you can simply enter any other valid email address you use which does not have a period before the '@' sign—for example, 'myaddress@ourmail.com'.  Once you register, you can use the sQusi menu to change your address back to the original one you wanted.
